the light in his eyes

squinting Houston, TX

Attended an excellent lecture at the Houston Center for Photography last night. Mary Virginia Swanson talked for almost two hours on finding your audience and marketing photography in honor of the late John Cleary. Insightful and somewhat overwhelming, I left with a renewed drive. At once intimidated and fueled with excitement, I couldn't wait to get myself focused (irony is so ironic). I promptly returned home and sighed over sheets and rolls of unshot/unprocessed/unscanned film.
But still refreshed.
Which may be why I've left this particular image in this state.
Things I normally would avoid I've left to thrive, and in turn they've shifted my thinking a bit on direction and processes. We'll see what happens. For now it feels good.

Don't want to forget, if you're in New Orleans anytime soon, I'm hangin' out with some talented friends in Critters through July 26.
